The island itself covers 42 hectares in area and is almost totally surrounded by a coral lagoon allowing safe snorkelling and glass bottom viewing for all ages. A coral sand beach rings the Island whilst its interior is vegetated with casurina forests and grassed bird rookeries.

Under strict Marine Park Authority supervision, guests numbers are limited to a maximum of 140 at anyone time. This combined with our "Environmentally Friendly" Resort practices (i.e. waste disposal, water desalination etc) has ensured the quality and quantity of live coral and marine life has been preserved.

Lady Elliot Island Resort offers four grades of accommodation all of which have been refurbished in the past 12 months. Accommodation is as follows: Island Suites, Reef Units, Lodge Accommodation and Tent Cabins. Each room type comfortably accommodates 4 people.

ISLAND SUITES - These spacious apartments are located right on the beach with outstanding balcony views over the Island's coral lagoon. Their layout includes a lounge/entertainment area which fronts directly onto the balcony, tea and coffee making facilities, a mini bar and of course private facilities. All rooms are fan cooled. During the summer months the rare tropic birds and turtles nests only metres from these suites. Even though these suites are within easy access to the main Resort area they have been purposely secluded allowing our guests additional privacy.

REEF UNITS - Again, the majority of these units are located directly on the beach with outstanding views. All units are appointed with a double and two single beds, private facilities, a balcony and fans.

LODGE ACCOMMODATION - These rooms are common rated and have a similar floor plan to the Tent Cabins. They offer excellent value for the budget minded traveller. They are equipped with lighting, power, 4 single bunk beds and are fan cooled. They are conveniently located to an amenities block as well as all other Resort facilities.

TENT CABINS - Shaded by tall casurina trees these all weather cabins have polished timber floors, power and lighting as well as a covered patio area. Eleven of the fourteen Tent cabins are equipped with four single bunk beds whilst three have a double bed configuration. Their location is very close to the beach and all Resort facilities. They are spacious and have been the most recently refurbished of all resort accommodation.

There are numerous resort facilities at offer to ensure at great time during your stay. These included a bar (overlooking our coral lagoon), a pool-side bar and bistro, The Manta-Room restaurant, fully equipped Dive Shop, salt water swimming pool, children's playground, souvenir shop, reef education centre, a glass bottom boat, a dive boat and fishing vessel, and a novelty par 3 golf course.

A range of supplementary activities are also at hand including, snorkelling, glass bottom boat viewing, diving, whale watching, reef fishing, guided walks, ghost walks, fish feeding, nightly entertainment, photography, relaxing, archery, golf and swimming.
